Venkman here - Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Brett Ratner has been talking with Robert Downey Jr. about playing Hugh Hefner in his biopic that is for now being called 'Playboy'. Ratner tells EW:
"Robert Downey Jr. agreed to do it based on the script," the director says. "We're gonna hand him the script very shortly. He loves the character and the role and we've been meeting with him on it. So, if he wants to do it, we're excited to have him." Ratner adds, "We wanted him before Iron Man so we were ahead of the curve."
Downey's rep declined to comment.
Of course they wanted him before Iron Man. Well, if Robert says no we know the script sucks. This movie doesn't really interest me especially with Ratner directing. I just think there are better stories out there to tell about people that have really made a difference in the world. There are a few thousand people in history that I know are more interesting than Hugh Hefner. But hey Hollywood knows sex sells.
