Robert Rodriguez to Produce "Red Sonja"

At times I think that certian movies should not be remade. This one I am certianly on the fence with. Last night while watching G4 I was shocked to see in their breaking news bar they posted that RR was producing a remake of the 1985 action film "Red Sonja". What was an even bigger shock was that they said that Rose McGowan was going to play the title role.
In retrospect, I figure that I was putting too much thought into it. So this morning, the first thing I did was surf the web and see if this was true. Yes my friends, it is true. Miss McGowan is bringing Sonja, originally played by Brigitte Nielson, back to the big screen. Apparently, there has been much speculation on who would take on the title role. Stars like Charlize Theron, Milla Jovovich, Megan Fox and Rebecca Mader have all been blogged as the mighty warrior.
Many others have blogged that RR would be taking the helm of this project. This is not true, he is taking a producers role on this one. His trusted second chair Douglas Aarinokoski is taking the helm of this ship, slated to hit the theaters in 2010.
I am not really expecting an epic that will withstand the test of time. I am, however, expecting a great action flick. With RR involved, even in the producer capacity, this bound to keep our attention.

Way to go Rodriguez, you sold out to your woman…just like with Milla Jovovich and her husband putting her in all his movies…It’s on the level with high school movies where you put in your friends instead of going to find a more appropriate actress.
Sigh - It just worries me. Movies where the director puts his girlfriend into his movie for brownee points just always seem to fall short of what they could’ve been. Hopefully he keeps it old “Conan the Barbarian”-esque, just updated graphics and blood.
Now Rose has got good facial scructure, strong chin and pretty eyes (EXCEPT THEY AREN’T GREEN!!!! Sonja’s are GREEN - cgi that i guess). My main problem with it is her body type. Rose doesn’t have that tall, athletic, muscularly sexy curvy body - Red Sonja is like 5′11″ 36D-25-36 and built, whereas Rose McGowan is 5′5″ 36C-26-36 (approx) and on the thin side with a kinda saggy ass - I’ll suffice for the breast size and maybe if you dye her hair a deep scarlett red and get her in the gym to build some muscle shape she’d probably look good…but she’d still be too short
