Rob Cohen Wants to Remake the classic 'Monster Squad'!

by Joey Paur

Well, there it is folks. 'Monster Squad' might be getting remade. It is not official yet! But Bloody-discusting recently sat down with Rob Cohen to talk about 'The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emporer' and he revealed some crazy news that Paramount Pictures has aquired the right to the movie 'Monster Squad'! Cohen said he will produce the film but not direct it. The original 'Monster Squad' came out in 1987 and was directed by Fred Dekker. Stan Winston was the man behind the costumes and effects.

I am really not sure how to feel about all this. I grew up on the original film and its got that corny 80's look and feel to it that just brings back those childhood memories when I watch it. Obviously the remake will not have that effect. I don't really need to see this movie remade. If they end up reinventing the story and making the movie a seprate entity, then maybe I can get behind it. I don't think I will ever be 100% on board though unless they do something that blows me away, but Rob Cohen has yet to blow me away with one of his films. What do you think?
