Well soldiers, this is a new and interesting development. The husband of Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise, is loosely attached to an upcoming comedy called Food Fight.
TC is no stranger to the comedy genre. Cruise has played the jesters role in such movies as Jerry McGuire and a bit part in Austin Powers: Goldmemeber. He is also said to play a movie stealing comedic performance in the upcoming Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder. In Tropic Thunder Cruise plays an overweight studio exec that, as word has it, steals the show.
Food Fight is being written by Adam Brooks, writer and director of Definitely Maybe, and writer of Drillbit Taylor. The Hollywood Reporter gives the synopsis of Food Fight as this:
a warmhearted comedy about a snooty New York chef who is forced to cook meals at a school cafeteria, with Cruise playing the role of the chef. The project is set up at Universal-based Working Title.
This sounds like a good story. Unfortunately, Cruise is not fully committed to the project yet because he has many projects on his plate. I will be very interesting to see if he does take this project. If he doesn't I would like to see who does take this on.
I will stay on top of this, and I will let you know when any news comes out about this. Until then, let me know what you think.
