The Villian has been Cast in Guy Ritchie's 'Sherlock Holmes'

Venkman here with some quick casting news. Mark Strong has been cast in Guy Ritchie's 'Sherlock Holmes' flick that also will star Robert Downey Jr. Digital Spy reports:


Guy Ritchie has lined up Mark Strong to play the villain in his reinvention of Sherlock Holmes.

Speaking at the BFI's Movie-Con weekend, Ritchie revealed that he will pit Strong, who appears in the director's upcoming gangster film RocknRolla, against Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes.

Ritchie did not name the villain, but Holmes's best-known nemesis is Professor James Moriarty. The movie will take inspiration from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic novels and Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book series.

Strong's previous screen credits include Syriana, Stardust, Sunshine and Revolver.
