Chris Pine steps into the shoes of Jack Ryan

Chris Pine is currently in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan in a new reboot of the franchise. Yes, they are not going to continue the story they are going to reboot the whole franchise.

As most of you movie geeks know, Pine played James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams new Star Trek film, and I thought he did a great job in it.

The Jack Ryan project is still being developed and Pine just started talking to Paramount but it will most likely all work out, and we will see a new Jack Ryan. The movie will not be a remake of the original films, it wont even be taken from the books! There is an original idea being constructed and obviously being built around a much younger Jack Ryan. The studio and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini.

This will be the second film franchise that Pine is involved with at Paramount so he'll be spending a lot of time at the studio. There's no word yet on if he will do this first or Star Trek 2.

Pine will be the fourth actor to play Jack Ryan. Alec Baldwin played him in The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford was the best Ryan in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, then Ben Affleck butchered the role in The Sum of All Fears.

So what do you think about Chris Pine being the next actor to take on the role of Jack Ryan?
