Sylvester Stallone Talks About DEATH WISH Remake and Edgar Allen Poe

Sylvester Stallone is bringing bad ass old school action back to the big screen. I've enjoyed watching his last two films Rocky Balboa and Rambo 4. I didn't think he could pull it off, but he did! He is currently working on a hardcore action film called the Expendables which is going to be the most testosterone filled action film that you've seen since Predator. After he is done with Expendables he is going to get to work on filming Rambo 5, which is going to be different than any Rambo movie we have seen before. It will be like Rambo hunting Hulk in the jungles of Mexico. But he recent gave an interview with Empire in which he talked about two projects I haven't heard him talk about in a long time, so here is a little update on his remake on the 70's film Death Wish, and his Edgar Allen Poe biopic.

On Death Wish he says:

I'm thinking about it. It's a classic morality tale, where you take a civilised man and take away everything that matters to him so he becomes primitive again. The story's been done many times, and when it's done well, it's an emotionally engaging film. The trouble with remakes is that people fall in love with the original. It's like peanut butter. If you try to change the taste of peanut butter, you're in trouble.

Well he knows what were all thinking, so the question is, will he go through with it and make it? If he does I can only hope he does it justice. To bad Charles Bronson won't be back in  the role he made famous. Death Wish was Charles Bronson, and Charles Bronson was Death Wish. I wonder what Sly has in mind.

As for Edgar Allen Poe, this is a film I have been waiting to see made for a long time. I would really love to see what Stallone has up his sleeve for this one. Here hes says:

I keep telling my producer Avi Lerner, 'Make Edgar Allan Poe!' He says, 'Does he have a gun?' 'No, he doesn't have a gun', 'Can he throw a knife?' I say, 'No, he writes poetry!

As much as his producer doesn't want to do it I think there is a huge group of people that would love to see a movie about Poe, and I'm one of them. Don't worry, Stallone won't be playing Poe.

Of course, I'm not playing Poe. 'Yo, Poe!' It won't work! It'll be some young actor because he dies at 39, but it's gonna happen.

I really hope it does! Sylvester Stallone presents Poe, I bet he turns it into a great film! I'm serious! Stallone really knows how to build characters in his film. His last Rocky film is a perfect example of him being able to tell a character driven film. I know a lot of you won't agree with me, but I am looking forward to seeing what he does this this.
