The 82nd Academy Awards are almost upon us. So you know what that means... studios have now begun campaigning for Oscar nods with "For your consideration..." posters and ads for their films. Above and below are 9 different posters for the Oscar contenders.
Most of the ads are for animated pics -- Fantastic Mr. Fox, Ponyo, Coraline, Cloudy With a Chance for Meatballs, and '9' -- looking to be nominated for Best Animated Feature. Pixar bought out the front page of Daily Variety for their animated masterpiece Up, which is looking for nods in both the Best Animated Feature category, as well as Best Picture. Now that 10 movies will be nominated for best picture, Up really has a chance to get nods in both categories. But it'd be a hell of a long shot winning both.
Among the live-action pics, The Coen's A Serious Man and the Oprah Winfrey produced drama Precious are also throwing their hats in for Best Picture. When the best male and female performances begin to be campaigned for, you can bet good money that these two films will be properly recognized.
Steve Martin and and Alec Baldwin will host The 82nd Academy Awards airing live Sunday, March 7, 2010 on ABC.
Check out the posters and let us know what you think! It's early, but feel free to offer up your pics on who will take home the Oscar.
