BATTLE: LOS ANGELES Set Photos featuring Aaron Eckhart & mushroom clouds

Here a few photos from the set of the sci-fi action film Battle: Los Angeles with director Jonathan Liebesman at the helm of all the destruction.

The overpass/explosion photos were shot back in September on location in LA (well... Louisiana). Meanwhile, the photo of Aaron Eckhart decked out as a Marine staff sergeant was taken on December 17th in the 53 area of Camp Pendleton.

Eckhart has said that the film will be shot very documentary style likening it as a cross between "Back Hawk Down meets Alien." If for some reason those analogies don't click imagine District 9 meets Independence Day. If you're still having trouble... Here' the official synopsis:

When unknown forces put the City of Los Angeles under attack, it’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to come to the rescue. As the invasion hits the streets of L.A., the Marines become our first and last line of defense against a highly powerful enemy. Bridget Moynahan (I, Robot), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar) and Michael Peña (World Trade Center) co-star alongside an ensemble cast including Ramon Rodriguez and Ne-Yo.

Eckhart has has gone out on a limb guaranteeing that it will be no ordinary alien movie. It seems Liebesman is setting out on turning his horror film resume of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Darkness Falls into a James Cameron Piranha 2 type distant memory.

Battle: Los Angeles is set for a February 18, 2011 release.
