Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds was most definitely one of the best films of 2009. The movie is getting a ton of attention right now due to that fact that it is being nominated for something in every award event that has been announced so far. Tarantino is going about making the press rounds and still talking about the movie.
We know there has been talk of an Inglourious Basterds prequel which would be great to see! In fact, in a recent interview with Vulture he reveals that he has already started writing the movie and is 40 pages into the script. He doesn’t give any major details about the film, but I assume it will be an origin story of the Basterds.
The prequel won’t be his next film though. His next film project will be a smaller film that is “less epic” if it were compared to Basterds. He is keeping any details about this next film to himself, but it will be a “different genre entirely.” Tarantino is hoping to finish this next film in five to six months.
What could it be? He’s talked about continuing the story of the bride in Kill Bill but I seriously doubt that’s it. He’s also talked about making a 1930’s gangster film this last year, but that even seems like a big scale movie, depending on what he has planned for it.
I’m definitely interested to see what Tarantino has in store for us with this secret project he is working on. And I'm definitely excited that we will eventually get to see an Inglourious Basterds prequel.
Do you think INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS will get a best Picture Oscar nomination?
