Hilarious Star Wars Vintage PSA's

Here are a few vintage Star Wars Public Service Announcements for your viewing pleasure. These have been floating around the net for some time but you may not have seen all of them. They're each only about a minute. making them definitely a whole lot easier to stomach and get through then the Star Wars Christmas Special.

The Immunization PSA came out in 1977 shortly after A New Hope was unleashed to the world -- and features C-3PO and R2D2 discussing the diseases droids can't get that humans on earth can. Either way, you droids are still not allowed in the Cantina.

Speaking of the Cantina, the Drunk Driving PSA featured the Cantina band playing that ONE song Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes know. Produced for the US Dept of Transportation, this debuted in 1979 as part of the famous "Friends don't let friends drive drunk" campaign.

The last and funniest vintage PSA was produced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and features C-3PO catching R2-D2 smoking a cigarette. Even though these droids don't have hearts, they must set the good example for us humans. The Anti- Smoking ad debuted in 1981.

I've been doing horrible (and progressively less accurately quoted) impressions of C-3PO and R2D2 from this PSA for a couple of years now. Yes it's annoying to the smokers I do it too and yes it does get old... but I insist on doing it anyway. I take any chance I get to spread some Star Wars love. For example, try this: The next time you order a pizza, pay the delivery guy and instead of saying 'bye' or 'thanks' say, "May the Force be with you." But not in a jokey way, like a weird creepy religious way. Or, if some says something is 'impossible' or 'difficult' respond with, "It's not impossible. I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than two meters."

Just as a bonus:

Here is ultra rare behind the scenes footage of the immunization PSA. It features Anthony Daniels as C-3PO and Kenny Baker as R2-D2 with director Peter Shillingford (guy in blue sweater.)

And though this is not vintage or official in anyway, here's a fake PSA against Dark Sith Lords who use Lightsabers.
