Secrets of the Green Screen - What You See Isn't Always What You Get

TVVideos by Joey Paur

I know a good amount about special effects and how green screen is used, but many people have no idea that it is used so much, especially in several TV shows that look like they have no business using Green Screen technology. The video below entitled What You See Isn't Always What You Get was created by Stargate Studios. They specialize in background special effects and virtual set illusions. This is the kind of stuff we see in a David Fincher movie DVD effects special feature.

The reason the studios do this is because it saves them money and the directors have more control over what they are filming. How is it cheaper? They don't have to fly crews and actors all over the country filming scenes that take place in certain locations. They can film it all here in Hollywood instead of going to New York, Washington DC, or anywhere else in the world to get the shots they are looking for. I think it's pretty cool, but I'm sorry if this ruined the movie magic for you.
