Chris Pine Confirmed to play Jack Ryan - Story Begins on Wall Street
Back in October we reported that Chris Pine (Star Trek) would step into the shoes of Jack Ryan and help reboot the Jack Ryan franchise. Well, it looks like everything worked out because Chris Pine will indeed star in the next Jack Ryan film.
The character of Jack Ryan has previously appeared in the Clancy adaptations The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears.
Producer Mace Neufeld recently gave a brief update on the new project. This next film will not be based on one of Tom Clany's novels, it will be an original story written by screenwriter Adam Koxac. Tom Clancy is a great writer and a very smart dude. I seriously doubt this next film will be better than what has already been done. Well, it will most likely be better than Sum of All Fears.
Here is what Neufeld had to say:
We pick him up when he's on Wall Street... [but] the Jack Ryan movies have never been action films. They're kind of 'thinking man's thrillers.' Jack is referred to as a 'water-walker' because of his ability to jump ahead to conclusions. That's very big in all the Jack Ryan films and that's how we want to portray him. He's a teacher. He's a historian. He's a linguist. And he's really smart.
So there is no real solid information of what the story of the new film will be, and if you've read the Tom Clancy books or seen the movies then you already know everything about Jack Ryan that the producer mentioned above. So why did I write this article again, if there is no new info to tell you? I guess I just had a few minutes to spare, and if you didn't know they were rebooting the franchise then here ya go!
