This is some pretty interesting news. Rumors have been spreading about Wes Craven and the Weinstein Company wanting to make fourth Scream film, and it was also rumored that the original Scream trilogy writer Kevin Williamson would also write it. It may have been confirmed today, RopesOfSilicon recently recived an anonymous email which had a screenshot from the William Morris Agency Intranet which shows a company email announcing that Kevin Williamson has signed on to write a new trilogy of Scream movies for The Weinstein Co. Since this was a anonymous tip it could be fake.

What is crazy about this news is that not only will we get a Scream 4 but possibly a parts 5 and 6 as well. A whole new trilogy being developed for a new generation of people. I wonder if they plan to reboot the whole series or if these will be sequels? I assume the films will take place in the same world in which the original events occurred. So there will be a possibility of cameos from the original cast. But it will most likely focus on a new breed of high school students that are getting picked off one by one by a copycat killer. I wonder if they will try to connect it all with the original story by having blood relatives of the original characters involved, likes long lost sons, daughters, cousins, nieces and nephews, one of them hell bent on revenge. I guess we will find out soon enough. How do you think it will all go down?

One thing is for sure it wont be better than the original trilogy.
