Fox set to play Rourke's angel

by Billy Fisher

So, I am starting to think that Mickey Rourke is today what John Travolta was in the 90's.  He went from being uncastable, to being one of the most wanted actors in Hollywood.

In Passion Plays, writer director Mitch Glazer(The Recruit, Scrooged), is teaming Rourke up with one of Hollywood's HOTTEST stars Megan Fox.  hollywoodreporter.com brings us this info today, they report:

Rourke will play a down-on-his-heels trumpet player, and Fox will play an angel in 1950s Los Angeles, with Rourke finding redemption in Fox after he attempts to save her from a gangster. Those familiar with the project describe it as a dramatic but heartwarming tale.

Fox's character is described, in part, as as a slender beauty with wings who is part of a carnival.

Unfortunately, I am starting to see a trend in the kind of roles that MR is getting.  He is outstanding at playing the down-and-out roles, however, I am glad that he landed the villain role in Iron Man 2.  I think people have forgotten how great MR is at playing a douche bag.  I feel that the casting in this film is a stroke of genius.  MR gives so much depth to his roles, because he has hit rock bottom and overcome.  He can bring so much to this beauty and the beast like story.  He has been through more personal struggle and heartache then most actors his age.  If he can continue to channel that into his roles, there will be no stopping him.

The Fox is starting to show that she is more then a pretty face.  I know that for some of us it is hard to see past that, but she has the potential for greatness.  If she can land more roles that show her acting chops, she will be unstoppable.  Let me know what you think.  Until next time.
