TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Are Coming Back!

by Joey Paur

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming back in 2011 and they will be back live-action style! This is not the first time we have heard about this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle come back  we actually reported on this and confirmed it way back in September 2008. You can read that article here. I guess the news has finally hit main stream. That makes sense to hold out on the news for the 25th anniversary celebration which will kick off on Thursday in New York at the Tribeca Film Festival. Variety reports:

The Mirage Group, which owns the property, is moving forward with a live-action film focusing on the origins of the iconic crime fighters. Project, targeted for release in 2011, would mark the fifth big screen outing for the sewer-dwelling heroes Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as well as their master Splinter.

Legendary Pictures former chief marketing officer Scott Mednick is producing the new pic alongside Galen Walker, who produced the 2007 computer-animated "TMNT" pic, the most recent installment in the franchise. Peter Laird, Gary Richardson, Frederick Fierst, Eric Crown and Napoleon Smith III are exec producing the film, which is based on the characters created by Laird and Kevin Eastman.

TMNT was created in comic book form back in 1984. This spawned a great animated show that I use to watch all the time, and four movies. Three live-action and one CGI animated, which I thought was pretty good. I love the fact they they are going back to the original comic book source material. It is much darker than what we have come to know of the Ninja Turtles over the last few years. They actually want to take it to the level of what 'Batman Begins' was.

I can't wait for this new movie to be made! I couldn't be more excited to see our favorite Ninja turtles back in action! My favorite Ninja Turtle growing up was Donnetello. A bow staff was the only weapon I could get my hands on as a kid. Who was your favorite Ninja Turtle character?
