A re-imagining of the Marvel superheroes in the style of anime is currently underway, being created by the famed Japanese animation studio Madhouse. On top of that comic writer Warner Ellis has been brought on boar to write the series! When they first announced this earlier this year, I was really excited to see what kind of stuff they planned on doing with some of our favorite characters. And guess what? At Comic-Con they did give us a little taste of what we had to look forward too, and it looked great! It's completely different than anything I have ever imagined, but so damn cool looking.

These Marvel Anime TV series are being created as a way of merging the beloved Marvel Super Heroes of western culture with the bold animation tradition of Japan. The resulting product will be four visually groundbreaking anime series featuring popular Super Heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture. The series is expected to begin appearing on the Animax channel in Japan in spring of 2010.

The first clip they showed us was from the Wolverine anime, and I wasn’t expecting what we saw, it may take a bit of getting use to, but I can't deny how fun it looked! Wolverine had a slimmer build with long hair, very, very, much the style of anime, kind of like a character from Ninja Scroll, but different dress, and with Wolverine blades. He didn't have the side burns or anything. He in know way what-so-ever resembles wolverine. But the animation looked wonderful, brutal, and action packed. It showed Wolverine attacking some kind of japanese demon, slicing him up in classic animation style. It was cool but the character design was is not what your expecting. Check it out in the poster below.

They then showed us the fantastic anime version of Iron Man, and holy freakin hell! This footage just blew my mind! It was amazing! The footage was extremely beautiful, fast and furious. Iron Man like you have never seen him before! When you see this footage I can’t see how  you couldn’t love the hell out of it. When you finally see it, if you don't like it, then you have no soul. The stuff we saw is extremely detailed, fun, and action, action, action. Iron Man flying through the air, trying to catch some crazed flying bad guys, launched by some evil masterminds. This Iron Man looks better than the freakin movie, no joke.

The other Marvel anime shows will also include series from X-Men, and Blade. So this is something we all have to look forward too.
