Now here is some really interesting news for the day! Bryan Singer is in the running to bring a new Battlestar Galactica film to life for Universal. We reported earlier this year that Universal has plans on bring the Cylons to the big screen. Something you might not know is the fact that Bryan Singer and Tom De Santo were actually involved with reviving Battlestar Galactica back in 2001, which was to be a sequel to the classic 1970's series. Right before they were going to start shooting, the attacks of September 11th happened, and the studio pulled the plug on the project. Since that time Ron Moore and David Eick brought their incredible vision to life and recently completed one of the best shows ever to grace our TV sets.

Universal obviously see's some more life in the Galactica franchise and now according to Hitfix they are nearing a deal with Bryan Singer to produce and possibly direct the new Battlestar Galactica feature film.

Who knows whether or not he will want to go back to his original Galactic idea which you can read about in depth right here, but I assume he will want to come in with something new and fresh. The photo you see above is actually concept art of the Cylon from the original concept he had.

I'd like to see where he ends up taking it if this is made official. I think Singer is a really good director, he has it in him to develop some great films, but I haven't been too impressed with his stuff lately. Maybe Battlestar Galactica is what he's been waiting for to show what he's really got. On the other hand, he may not have what it takes. What do you think?
