Bruckheimer buys Derek Haas' SHAKE

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has made a seven figure deal with the screen writing duo Derek Haas and Michael Brandt(Wanted/3:10 to Yuma), for the rights to a short story Haas wrote called Shake. Bruckheimer has hired the duo to expand it into a feature screenplay for a potential Disney film.

The origin of Haas' story was a new site he developed called PopcornFiction. He created it as an outlet for TV and film writers to showcase their pulpy short fiction.

Haas says of the site:

I wanted to create a place where new popular short fiction could flourish and Hollywood could have a new resource for cultivating great ideas.

Haas' Shake centers on the story of an FBI agent chasing a killer while he begins to lose control of his own body. (If he needed to go to the bathroom, he should have just went.)

Shake has been removed from his site after the rights were bought. But it is promised to be put back up at a "later date." I would love to read it if anyone would like to e-mail us copy they may have saved on their computer. Or not, wink wink.

Haas and Brandt, have been quite busy lately. The pair has scripts in development for The A-Team feature film, Beverly Hills Cop IV, All Creatures Great and Small at Columbia and The Matarese Circle at MGM.
