PRINCESS AND THE FROG animation test shown at Comic-Con

This is an animation test for Disney forthcoming animated picture The Princess And The Frog. When they introduced this film during the Disney Animation panel, the crowd went absolutely berserk when it was announced that this film is only the first of many that would mark Disney's return to the world of hand drawn 2D animation. Smart move, it's what made them famous and no one does 2D like Disney.

I didn't get to stay for the whole panel, as I had to rush off for our Interview with Mystery Team's Derrick Comedy. That's only a mere glimpse at our hectic schedule for Comic-Con!

But what I saw for Princess And The Frog was as glorious and nostalgic as you can get. After showcasing all of their 3D ventures, they proved they could inject beauty and originality in a medium that was near extinction for the company.

So here's an animation test they showed at the Con. (We can't remember if this is the exact test they showed us, but this definitely contains footage they showed.)

This is an unfinished "Pencil Test" our friends at /Film dug up on Youtube. This showcases Disney's signature 2D "stretching" at it's best, while integrating the classic hand-drawn cell animation with CG work.

Check it out, and let us know what you think!

Walt Disney Animation Studios presents the musical THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, an animated comedy set in the great city of New Orleans. From the creators of "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" comes a modern twist on a classic tale, featuring a beautiful girl named Tiana (ANIKA NONI ROSE), a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana.
