Warner Bros Ditches MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

he-man-1

Warner Bros and Mattel have parted ways on the new live action adaptation of Mattel's toy line and classic cartoon, Masters of the Universe. Producer Joel Silver has been trying to develop the project since 2007, and they haven't moved forward past a script and maybe some concept art. Mattel and Warner's just didn't see eye to eye over the direction of the project, so they made a mutual agreement to let the option lapse this month.

The movie is still going to happen! Mattel will take back the their property and look for another studio to set it up at. The original director of the film John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) will still direct the movie, but Joel Silver will no longer be the producer which is probably a good thing for this film.

There are a few script reviews that came out last year for the script that Justin Marks wrote. The reviews were very positive, and made the movie sound like it was going to be epically incredible. Likening it to the scale of Lord of the Rings. I would love to see a good He-Man film made. I loved the 80's version as a kid but now that I'm older, I'd like to see something a little more awesomely epic.

If for some reason you don't know who He-Man is, he is a prince who becomes a warrior battling the evil Skeletor for control of his magical homeland.

Mattel has got several other projects out in the works right now such as, Hot Wheels with WB, Major Matt Mason is over at Universal with Tom Hanks attached, and Paramount Pictures has got Max Steel.

What type of He-Man movie are you hoping to see?
