HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Teaser Trailer and Poster
Here's the teaser trailer for How to Train Your Dragon, Dreamworks Animation's newest CGI 3D adventure from Lilo & Stitch writer/directors Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders. Up top is our first good look at the look of the film's logo and dragon, click image for larger size.
Based on the book by Cressida Cowell, How to Train Your Dragon is a comedy adventure which is set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons. The film enlists the voice talents of many comedic actors including Jay Baruchel(Knocked Up), Craig Ferguson(The Drew Carey Show/Late Late Show), Superbad's Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kristen Wiig(SNL/Extract), as well as America Ferrera(Ugly Betty) and Gerard Butler(300).
The film centers around a Viking teenager named Hiccup(Baruchel), who lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief... who just happens to be Hiccup's father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.
I'm excited for the cast, and I think the Lilo & Stitch movie and TV series were hilarious. As with most of Dreaworks' animated releases, this will probably be funny and entertaining. But they just don't tug at the heart strings like Pixar does.
The trailer is pretty much one big name drop, with the dragon flying around Dreamworks titles. It took me a few seconds to realize the close up of the dragon's eye... was his eye. Check it out, and let us know what you think of How To Train Your Dragon!
The film hits theaters March 26th, 2010.
