CAPTAIN EO to return to the DISNEY Theme Parks?

Everyone has been trying to cash in on Michael Jackson's death. Within a couple hours of his passing on June 25th, there were already droves of people selling T-Shirts by his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There was a vicious bidding war for Jackson's  live rehearsal footage for his planned comeback tour, which Sony acquired for $60 million dollars from AEG Live. And there is a planned Jackson Family Reality Show.

With all the cash grabbing going on, here's something that seems to be a more respectful tribute to Jackson's legacy. ThePlaylist reports that reliable source, Al Lutz states on the Disney website MiceAge, that the 3D-Movie Captain EO(the Francis Ford Coppola-directed/George Lucas-produced film which starred Michael Jackson), will make it's return to the Disney Theme Parks.

Rumor has it that the big budget 17 minute former Tomorrow Land Attraction will make its way back to California's Disneyland park in January of 2010.

It has yet to be determined if it will also return to Florida's Epcot, but our bets are on the affirmative. MiceAge further reports that the announcement will be made at Disney's inaugural fanclub convention D23 (it'll be like Comic Con for Disneyland fanatics, no really), being held later this month.

In case you were maybe to young to remember, or you are some kind of robot that didn't have a childhood, here's the Captain EO synopsis:

The movie tells the story of Captain EO and the ragtag crew of his spaceship on a mission to deliver a gift to a wicked alien queen, the Supreme Leader, on her home world of rotting, twisted metal and steaming vents. Captain EO's alien crew consists of his small flying sidekick Fuzzbucket, the double-headed navigator and pilot Idee and Odee, robotic security officer Major Domo, a small robot Minor Domo (who fits like a module into Major Domo), and the clumsy elephant-like shipmate Hooter who always manages to blunder the crew's missions.

Upon arriving on the planet, the crew is captured and sentenced to be tortured. Before being sent away, EO tells the Queen that he sees the beauty hidden within her, and that he brings her the key to unlock it: his song.
