Re-imagine, remake, reboot whatever you want to call it it is happening with the classic cult film Highlander. Summit Entertainment is the studio that plans to breath new life in the franchise once again. Highlander is a fan favorite and there have been a few sequels, none of which have lived up to the original film.
The new Highlander film will be directed by Justin Lin and produced by Neal H. Moritz. I am sorry to say that these are the two guys that worked on Fast & Furious, which leads me to believe that this Highlander film is going to suck. Fast & furious was pretty awful. Writing the script to the film are Art Marcum and Matt Hollowoy, they wrote the script for Iron Man, but as you can see they aren't writing the sequel, and there is a reason for that.
Summit's vision will expand on the original Highlander's core mythology of immortals battling amongst us, hunting each other through the ages by tapping its newly minted creative team to take its re-imagination to new heights. Plans call for the re-imagination to spur a new franchise for the studio.
Summit co-chairman Partrict Waschsberger says:
We are privileged to have this amazing opportunity to reinvent one of the great franchises. Neal and Justin have proven more than once that they can deliver an entertaining and exciting blockbuster.
I'm sorry to say it is going to be hard to get behind this movie. I am a huge fan of the original film, and I just have this feeling they are going to turn re-imagine the story into a piece of crap.
In Highlander, after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize.
What are your thoughts on the Highlander remake madness?

I am a huge Highlander fan. That being said, the Highlander franchise is kinda like a dysfunctional relationship. In the beginning it was good, exciting, and fresh (Highlander 1). Things progressed, and you started to know them a little more and it got a little weird (Highlander 2). Eventually the relationship got to an unrecognizable level (Highlander 3) but since you don't want to be alone you take them back and things are even more effed up than before (Highlander 4: Endgame). Lastly you are on the breaking point and literally the only reason you are now together is because you do not know what else to do (direct to DVD Highlander 5: The Source). Therefore, I am looking forward to a new girlfriend, a much younger and probably less intelligent as well as more expensive one (Insert Highlander reboot title here).
