PIXAR Interested in Marvels ANT-MAN?
Last week HUGE news broke that Disney bought Marvel for the small sum of $4 billion dollars. Previously Pixar met with some people with Marvel to discuss some stuff, no details were released on what went on in that meeting so we can only make an educated guess that they want to make beautiful movies together. What type of movies are they interested in? Well, Marvel has over 7000 characters to chose from, but in the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, it says:
"Pixar is said to already be eyeballing an Ant-Man movie."
As may may have already read on our site, Edgar Wright (Hott Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) has been developing a projected based on Marvel's Ant-Man character. I believe he is currently in the process of finishing up a script. His version of Ant-Man has yet to be greenlit, and there is no talk of if Edgar Wright would be involved with the project if Pixar actually ends up taking it on.
By the way, don't just assume Pixar is going to make it a CGI animated film! Pixar has started to branch out into live action. The are the studio developing the live-action film based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel, John Carter of Mars. The are also currently working on developing another live-action film on the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906, which has Brad Bird attached to direct.
I would be much more excited if Pixar were to get involved with the live-action Marvel films, and I think Ant-Man is a perfect starting point for that. I also think that since Edgar Wright is already involved with the project, they might as well bring him in to direct it. Right now he is currently in the the post-production process on his most recent film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
I guess we'll find out what is going on with this soon enough. In the meantime what do you all think of Pixar making Ant-Man, or helping develop any other Marvel characters?
