New Images for INCEPTION, SHUTTER ISLAND, and THE WOLFMAN

Hey Gang! The LA Times did 2010 sneak peek at some upcoming movies for 2010. As you know this year there are a lot of good movies coming out. As I went down their list I noticed a few movie images that I haven't seen yet so I thought I'd post them for you along with a little background info and details about the films.

Shutter Island

This is a movie I'm really looking forward to and I have a feeling it will be a Best Picture contender for next year's Academy Awards. The story just has the makings of a great film, add on a great director, Martin Scorsese, and a great cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley, then you have yourself a great freakin' movie.

Scorsese's movie faithfully follows Lehane's plot: U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) arrives at the remote Shutter Island to investigate the disappearance of a patient at a hospital for the criminally insane. A more ominous version of Alcatraz, the island is enveloped in a violent storm, and Daniels' search (he's assisted by Ruffalo's Chuck Aule) soon turns as unsettled as the weather.

Scorsese tried to establish a physical environment to match Daniels' mental state.

Even though we're on an island, we wanted to create the feeling of being in a maze, of being closed in, (DiCaprio) has the depth of emotion and psychological complexity (to play Daniels) It gave us a chance to mine those areas that he has in him, to see how many perceptions of reality he has in him for one line reading.

The screen writer Laeta Kalogridis labored to convey the book's point of view: a 1950s world imbued with paranoia about communism and brainwashing, where everything is not as it seems.

I wanted to take audiences to a place you would not normally experience, so audiences also feel like in a weird way they are privy to his thoughts without hearing a voice-over.

Inception

Christopher Nolan's follow-up to The Dark Knight has been described by himself as the most challenging movie he's ever made. That's definitely saying something, from the trailers we've seen for the film this movie looks epic and insane! I love what I have seen so far and I have a feeling this movie is going to take us to a place we've never been and blow our minds in the process.

This is a metaphysical heist movie that is going to take us into the fourth dimension.

I think we've put a lot of different things into the pot with this one. I grew up watching James Bond films and loving those and watching spy movies with their globe-trotting sensibility. We get to do that here not just geographically but also in time and dimensions of reality as well. We get to make a movie that's expansive, I suppose you'd say, in fourdimensions.

The Wolfman

As many problems as it seems this movie has gone through in the process of getting made, I couldn't be more excited to see it! It looks like it's going to be a classic old school horror film with much better effects. The film is a remake of the original 1940's classic, and I love that they kept the same tone that the original film hard. At the core his is a great monster movie story that you just can't beat. Director Joe Johnston had this to say regarding the project.

It's a monster movie with a great story. It's got all the gore and the action and terrifying moments, but it also has these relationships that will make it appeal to a much broader audience than just the fanboys.

And here's a fun little story from the set.

While filming, Del Toro took liberty with his character's insanity he broke the frame of the wheelchair that he was strapped into twice because he was sort of contorting and convulsing and got so violent that he was shaking it around. It was a scary process -- you almost want to cut the camera and say, 'Are you OK?'

Which of these three movies are you most excited to see?
