I've been hearing that this new SNL film based on Will Forte's McGruber character is a hilariously insane action movie that takes aspects of the film over the edge. I really wanted this buzz to be true, and after watching this awesome red-band trailer for the film, it looks like it is. The trailer gives us an idea of just how politically incorrect this movie is going to be, it pretty much does the opposite of everything that is socially acceptable. This movie is going to be full of offensive material, which means it's going to be full of laughs. That is of course, if you like irreverent comedy.
I'm happy that Forte, co-writer John Solomon and director Jorma Taccone were given the room to take this movie to the level of greatness that this film deserves. The trailer definitely had me laughing.
The film also has a great cast which includes the wonderfully hilarious Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer, Powers Booth, and Maya Rudolph. The film could have gone in so many different wrong directions and ended up being a piece of crap, but it doesn't look like that's what we will get at all.
Below the tailer you will find a few more images from the film along with the official story synopsis. Check out the trailer and let us know what ya think!
Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet. In 2010, Will Forte brings Saturday Night Live’s clueless soldier of fortune to the big screen in the action comedy MacGruber.
In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that’s been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he’s the only one tough enough for the job.
Assembling an elite team of experts—Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig)—MacGruber will navigate an army of assassins to hunt down Cunth and bring him to justice. His methods may be unorthodox. His crime scenes may get messy. But if you want the world saved right, you call in MacGruber.
