I love it when I come across a great looking movie that sparks my interest. 21 and Across the Universe star Jim Sturgess enters into a crazy new world where he gets into street fights with demons in London.
Sturgess plays a birth-marked, antisocial hero named Jamie, who sees evil in the faces of hooded hoodlums. When his mother is viciously murdered, the media reports it's by a hoodie wearing a devil mask. But Jamie soon realizes the thugs aren't wearing disguises at all; they really are demons and hell on earth is beginning to plague the capital city. Yet all is not what it seems in enfant terrible Ridley's unique horror fantasy landscape ingeniously informed by the current climate of fear running through every strata of modern society.
This movie sounds pretty freakin cool. It made the film festival rounds last year and received some positive feedback. The movie was directed by Philip Ridley who made the acclaimed film The Passion of Darkly Noon. It's been 14 years since he's made his last movie but it looks like he's got a good thing going with Heartless.
The film also stars Noel Clarke, Clemence Poesy, Joseph Mawle, Eddie Marsan, Luke Treadaway and Timothy Spall.
Check out the preview of Heartless below with actor Noel Clarke talking about the film.
