FOX Picks up Robert Rodriguez's MACHETE

It looks like the independently-financed Robert Rodriguez film Machete has found a distributer and that distributer is 20th Century Fox, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Based on Machete, the faux trailer from Grindhouse the film follows a skilled Federale Machete who is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend (Marin), who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence.

Sony Pictures has the international rights for the film and there was no domestic rights, six studios were shown roughly 15 to 30 minutes of footage with the price set at $9 million with a healthy profit sharing from the film's theatrical and back-end grosses.

It really makes a great deal of sense that FOX got the film, after all they are producing his Predators film.

Machete stars Danny Trejo Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson, and Steven Seagal.

This movie is going to be one hell of ride, thats for sure.
