Sean Penn is back to Play Larry in Farrelly Brothers' THE THREE STOOGES

Last Summer Sean Penn dropped out of the role of Larry for the Farrelly Brothers' take on The Three Stooges. Since that time we heard Paul Giamatti was cast in the role, but apparently that didn’t work out, and now according to Bobby Farrelly, Penn is back in the role.

Farrelly recently told The Boston Herald:

We got him back. He always said he wanted to do it after, you know, taking care of his family.

So I guess he’s done taking care of his family matters, and is ready to get back to work. I always thought it would be cool to see Penn do comedy again. It will be interesting to see if he can pull it off.

Benicio Del Toro is still interested in playing Moe, and today is the first time that I’ve heard that Jim Carry will not be involved with the film. He was supposed to play Curly, but I guess the role still needs to be cast.

I hope this movie turns out to be good, but I just don’t know what to think. It is not going to be a biopic of the Three Stooges, it is going to be a movie that involves the classic characters that we all know and love.

What are your thoughts on Penn taking on the role of Larry and who do you think should be cast as Curley?
