Emily Blunt joins the cast of Rian Johnson's Sci-Fi Film LOOPER

Rian Johnson has made some pretty cool films such as Brick and The Brothers Bloom. I love the guys filmmaking and writing style. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us with this new violent and dark sci-fi film he is currently working on called Looper. 

News broke today that he's cast Emily Blunt in the film as a single mother whose son becomes a target. But a target of what? Here is how Johnson described Looper in a previous interview:

Looper is a time travel movie, set in a near future where time travel doesn’t exist but will be invented in a few decades. It’s pretty dark in tone, much different from Bloom, and involves a group of killers (called Loopers) who work for a crime syndicate in the future. Their bosses send their targets hogtied and blindfolded back in time to the Loopers, and their job is to simply shoot them in the head and dispose of the body. So the target vanishes from the future and the Loopers dispose of a corpse that doesn’t technically exist, a very clean system. Complications set in from there.

I love the plot of this movie! Blunt will join the already cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. 

Looper is set to start shooting in January in Louisiana.
