Neil Patrick Harris to Direct Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson in AARON AND SARAH

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris is planning on making his directorial debut with a film called Aaron and Sarah, which will star Emma Roberts (Scream 4) and Josh Hutcherson (Almost Spider-Man). 

The story follows a geeky guy and a popular girl who become friends as freshmen in high school and see their relationship deepen through the four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation. 

David O' Russell was actually attached to direct this film before he jumped on the video game film adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. But, before Russell was involved there was Sydney White helmer Joe Nussbaum who was developing the film. The this film has been through several different hands of directors and studios. 

The film was previously called B.F.F. and was written by Pushing Daisies scribes Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey.

It will be interesting to see how good of a director Harris is.
