Kartheiser is playing the father of Seyfried's character, who is forced to choose between the daughter he loves and the oppressive time system that has made him rich. As for Murphy he plays a ruthless law enforcement officer tracking the protagonists, and Collins Pennie will play his right-hand man.

Niccol is known for directing films such as Gattaca and Lord of War.
