New SUPERMAN Film won't Follow any Particular Comic Book Storyline

Since Zack Snyder has been officially attached to direct the new Superman reboot film, we've all been wondering what this new story would actually entail, and what Nolan and Snyder have planned for us. There's been a lot of speculation on what we will possibly see, but until someone from the films production tells us, or until the movie comes out, we won't know for sure.

We previously learned that the new Superman film will in fact be an origin story that follows Clark Kent, as a journalist traveling the world trying to decide if he should, in fact, even become Superman. It’s somewhat of a different approach to the origin of the character. We thought that this story line could be connected with the comic book Superman: Birthright, where Clark is a reporter forced to use his powers. This leads him to return to Smallville where he learns about his alien powers, and he has to make the choice whether or not to become Superman.

In a recent interview with director Zack Snyder, he reveals that the story will focus on the early days of Superman, and that it will not be based on any comic book in particular. The interview was traslated from French with google translator so it's a little rough.

I have not really had time to work on the project. When I finish promoting Ga’Hoole, I could really harness myself. As I have already explained, the film will focus on the early days of Superman, so there will be no links with other films. This is not a remake then. Similarly, although I still cannot talk about the script—I can assure you that this new Superman will not be based on a comic book in particular.

So the new movie will not be connected to Superman: Birthright, and it will not be connected to any of the previous films. It was also recently revealed that General Zod will not be a villain in the film.

I really hope this ends up being completely different than any other Superman film or TV show that we've already seen. I want to see something completely unexpected with this one. What do you all think? What do you want to see?
