Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper to Star in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES?

Not long ago we got word that Natalie Portman and director David O' Russell dropped out of the film production for the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Apparently Portman left because she felt she was too old to play the main character, and Russell left to focus on his collaboration with Vince Vaughn on Old St. Louis and the video game adaptation of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune at Sony.

Before Russell left the film project though he had a casting back-up plan. The director had Scarlett Johansson ready to play the heroine of the story Elizabeth Bennet if Portman backed out, and Bradley Cooper set to play Mr. Darcy.

These two actors are not officially signed on to star in the film yet, but we can consider them at the top of the casting list. There is also the chance that when a new director comes on board he will want two different actors to take on these roles.

Speaking of a new director it was also revealed that 30 Days of Night director David Slade is one of the directors being considered to develop the project, which would be great! He was up for Wolverine 2, but it looks like Aronofsky is going to take that one.

I can see Johansson in the lead female role as well as Slade directing the project. It will be fun to see how this all turns out. What do you think of the talent that may end up developing the film?
