JACKASS 3.5 Coming to Theaters Soon

Movie by Joey Paur

Jackass 3D blew up in theaters this weekend. I ended up going to a midnight showing for the film in which four screenings of it sold out. People love seeing these guys jack themselves up on screen. The film made $50.4 million dollars on it's opening weekend. Because of it's success, Paramount Pictures is looking to release a Jackass 3.5 type film, which will also be in 3D.

This next release will contain footage that was already shot, but didn't make the final cut of the film. Ringleader Johnny Knoxville said they filmed so much material that they could easily create another sequel.

We shot two movies' worth of footage. We have so many bits that we never even turned in to Paramount because we were so swamped with ideas — funny stuff. The bits were just coming out of us left and right.

Paramount was already planning to use the extra footage for an online follow-up similar to what they did with Jackass 2.5, which hit the Web three months after Jackass Number Two was released. It looks like this time they are going to release it in theaters.

Paramount is obviously interested in making more full-fledged Jackass sequels. When the director, Jeff Tremaine, was asked about any possible sequels he explained, The LA Times also reports "that cast and crew have filmed every movie as if it will be their final one and had no plans to shoot more." And that "even though several cast members are approaching their 40s, age in and of itself would not be a barrier to future filming."

He went on to explain:

It doesn’t take a whole lot of skill to do what these guys do, as long as they’re brave enough to do it, they can go on as long as they want.

What do you all think about this Jackass 3.5 type sequel, and the possibility of more Jackass films?
