EMMA STONE TO BE OFFERED ROLE OF MARY JANE WATSON
Sony Pictures Entertainment will be offering the role of Mary Jane from the new Spider-Man 3D reboot to Emma Stone. Stone has starred in Zombieland and Easy A for them, so they have a good track record. She is currently in production of The Help for Dreamworks based on the Kathryn Stockett bestseller.
She will be starring alongside Andrew Garfield, the new Spider Man, whose film The Social Network is at the top of the box office so far for its opening weekend. Garfield also stars in the Never Let Me Go starring Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley.
So where does this leave the other actresses that were in the running for the role of Mary Jane? They still have a shot at the integral role of Gwen Stacy. Dianna Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott have a good chance at landing the coveted role. She is the first love of Peter Parker during his time in high school and was played by Bryce Dallas Howard in 'Spiderman 3'.
I am very excited about how this cast is shaping up. Andrew Garfield is amazing in The Social Network and I believe he will make a better Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire did. I think that it would be great to see Diana Agron in the role of Gwen Stacy. I am also excited at the possibility of Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a villain again.
What are your thoughts on this impending casting news?
