Taken Director Pierre Morel to take on OUIJA?

Movies based on boards game are hot right now in Hollywood, and I guess out of all of the games being turned into movies like Battleship, Candy Land and Monopoly, the Quija board actually kind of makes sense, because it could make for a fun horror film, which is won't be.

Universal Pictures is currently looking to hire Taken director Pierre Morel to develop the project. The guy is a talented director and it would be cool to see what he would do with a movie like this.

The film is currently being written by the two guys who wrote Disney's Tron Legacy film, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Since there is no real story to go off off, these guys can develop any kind of movie they want out of it. Of course the studio is looking at the project as a supernatural action-adventure movie in the vein of National Treasure. If you look at the rules of the game, you might be able to see what the plot point of the film will be, because rules are meant to be broken. The rules are; never use it alone, never use it in a graveyard, always say good-bye. So what happens if you forget to say goodbye? Or you intentionally use it alone, or in a graveyard? You can let your imagination play with that idea.

Morel is currently in the process of developing the new Dune reboot being set up over at Paramount. He's not officially signed on to this Ouija project yet, but discussions are taking place. The studio is also talking to a few other unnamed directors.

What do you all think about Marel possibly taking on the Ouija Board project?
