And THE HOBBIT Dwarves Are...

Last week Deadline announced that Martin Freeman would be playing the titular role of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.

Even though Warner Bros. and Peter Jackson have had their hands full trying to figure out where they will shoot the back-to-back parts of The Hobbit, they have at least firmed up part of the cast.

Richard Armitatge (MI-5 andCaptain America: The First Avenger) will play Thorin Oakenshield, the leader Company of Dwarves that sets off to fight the dragon and reclaim the Lonely Mountain.  Kili and Fili, members of the Company of Dwarves will be played by Aidan Turner (Being Human) and Rob Kazinsky (Eastenders) respectively.

Graham McTavish who starred in Secretariat will play Dawlin.  John Callen who starred in Power Rangers Jungle Fury will catch a major break as Oin.  Stephen Hunter of All Saints will play Bombur. Mark Hadlow who starred in King Kong will play Dori.  Rounding out the cast is Peter Hambleton, who starred in The Strip will play Gloin.

The casting news on The Hobbit has just begun.  David Tennant and Jimmy Nesbit are both rumored to be up for roles in the film.  As expected, Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis will likely reprise their roles as Gandalf and Gollum.  The voice of Smaug The Dragon could possibly go to Stephen Fry, Saoirse Ronan or Bill Nighy, while Aiden Turner is in contention for the Elf King.

What are your thoughts of this casting news for The Hobbit?  Lets hope they get a location nailed down soon so we can finally get closer to this classic becoming a reality.
