You Can Count Khan Out for STAR TREK 2, but who can you count in?

For those of you hoping to see Khan make an appearance in J.J. Abrams Star Trek sequel, then you shouldn't get your hopes up. According to sources, Khan Noonien Sigh will unfortunately not be a part of Star Trek 2

This news comes from the website Badass, whose source also says that the film's story has now been settled on, and that it "won't focus on a traditional villain type at all", but that it will feature a character(s) from Star Trek's first season.

So who will could it be? The source goes on to say that, "It's definitely a character that will make fans of The Original Series excited. Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta... Actually it's one of those that I named."

So here's a quick little run down of who these character are:

Harry Mudd was the comedy conman who turned up twice in the show's original incarnation smuggling women.

Trelane was a baby god who messed with the Enterprise (a bit like The Next Generation's Q) for an episode.

Gary Mitchell was the former Enterprise helmsman who went crazy in the second pilot episode.

The Talosians were the bulbous-headed aliens from original pilot The Cage and its two-part reworking The Menagerie, both of which involved Captain Pike.

The Horta was a big lump of space rock that killed miners.

So which one of the above are you more interested in seeing in the upcoming Star Trek sequel. Personally I'd still like to see Khan, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
