Clooney's FARRAGUT NORTH Retitled THE IDEAS OF MARCH and Casting News
George Clooney's next film The Ideas of March (Previously called Farragut North) is starting to really come together. It's been announced that the film has found its funding, and has also confirmed some of the casting.
As for the casting of the film, Ryan Gosling is officially on board to star in it. Clooney wanted the actor and he actually got him, so that's cool! Gosling is a fantastic actor! George Clooney will also have a part in the film.
The movie is based on a play by Beau Willmon who actually worked for Howard Dean's 2004 presidential run, and the story is based on his own experiences. In the film Gosling will play a a young communications director who works for a fast rising presidential candidate. During the course of the campaign, the idealistic young man falls prey to the backstabbing and other dirty trickery of more seasoned rivals. Clooney will play Governor Morris, who is running for the Democratic Presidential nomination. Paul Giamatti a rival candidate’s campaign leader. Marisa Tomei plays a New York Times reporter and Evan Rachel Wood an intern with whom Gosling’s character has a liason.
A press release from Exclusive Media Group and Cross Creek announced the deal for the companies to jointly fund the picture. The film is set to start shooting in February 2011 in Michigan and Ohio. The press release also gives a little description.
With sharp, quick-witted dialogue and set against the spectacle of modern world power and politics, The Ides of March is a intense tale of sex, ambition, loyalty, betrayal and revenge. The film follows a young press spokesman who falls prey to backroom politics, the treacherous manipulations of veteran operatives and the seduction of a young intern.
