Updated: Emma Stone Cast as Gwen Stacy in SPIDER-MAN

This weekend it was announced that Emma Stone was going to be offered the role of Mary Jane Watson, but it looks like she ended up grabbing the role of Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb's new Spider-Man 3D reboot. Today it's been confirmed that she's taken the role! Here is what Webb had to say about her being cast:

The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. At the heart of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.

I think Stone is a great actress, and she'll do great in the role. What do you all think? I thought she would have made a better Mary Jane Watson. I'm sorry everyone I had a major brain fart today when I posted this article, and I put that Stone was cast in the role as Mary Jane Watson in the Spider-Man reboot. I apologize for the confusion. I just had Watson on the brain while I wrote the article up. Even after reading the press release I kept looking at the picture above of Emma Stone and kept thinking Mary Jane Watson. Sorry everyone.
