HBO is moving forward on a new untitled biopic based on the life of Phil Spector and Al Pacino has signed on to take on the lead role, which he's perfect for. The movie will be written and directed by David Mamet.
Spector is a record producer famous for developing projects with a heavily layered "Wall of Sound". He was involved with releases from The Ramones, The Righteous Brother and The Beatles, among many others. Unfortunately things ended badly.
As you probably know, Spector was tried and convicted of the murder of actress Lana Clarkson for which he is currently incarcerated.
Pacino and Mamet worked together on 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross.
What are you're thoughts on Pacino playing Phil Spector?
