GeekTyrant October Zombie Fest: DEAD SNOW

                        Dead Snow (2009)

aka "Død snø" - Norway (original title)

The next stop on GeekTyrant's Zombie Fest is Dead Snow. Dead Snow is a Norwegian zombie film like no other. The biggest thing I love about this film is you have zombie Nazi's all over the place, in the darkest of night, in the freakin outhouse and in broad daylight which I really love beacuse many horror movies stick to mainly night to hide poor makeup and FX but not this movie, the FX and makeup are the best I've seen in a long time.

This fun zombie film is directed by Tommy Wirkola and stars lot's of  Norwegian actors names I can't pronounce. This zombie gore fest puts a group of young friends on vacation in the mountains of Norway, having fun on their snow mobiles, getting all lodged up and cozy then all hell breaks loose. There are so many fun scenes in this movie without ruining it for those of you who haven't seen it, you have a body being ripped through a window scene, the "outhouse" scene and so many Nazi zombies that when you think there are no more well, here comes the next batch.  I'm telling you the makeup, FX and the gore factor is simply perfect for a movie like this and watching some of these scenes take place in the daylight just makes it better!

One of the best horror imports ever!

Trivia:

Originally it was going to be called "Rød Snø" (or Red Snow in English), as an homage to the Swedish/Norwegian mini-series with the same name.

This film's main trailer shows black-and-white World War II archive footage including battleships, parachuting and a command room featuring Adolf Hitler but this material is not seen in the actual movie.

Synopsis:

A ski vacation turns horrific for a group of medical students, as they find themselves confronted by an unimaginable menace: Nazi zombies.
