UNDERWORLD 4 Gets Two Swedish Directors
Screen Gems, Lakeshore Entertainment and producer Len Wiseman have hired two Swedish film directors that you've probably never heard of to direct Underworld 4. Their names are Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stei and they have directed the 2005 Swedish thriller Storm, and the 2009 thriller Shelter which stars Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. The movie has not yet been released in the U.S. I haven't seen either of these films.
Kate Beckinsale is set to return to the franchise as the vampire warrior Selene. The directing team will develop the film from a script written by John Hlavin, which went through revisions by comics writer and The Changeling scribe J. Michael Straczynski. The production is set to start in March 2011 in Vancouver.
I've enjoyed watching all of the Underworld films, and I'm looking forward to what is in store for audience this fourth time around. It previously been reported that Underworld 4 has an open part for Selene's fictional daughter, and the character Seline will "pass the torch" to one of her two daughters.
What do you all think about this directing team taking on the next chapter in the Underworld franchise?
