Hey gang! I just wanted to give you a quick update on this Total Recall remake being developed by director Len Wiseman.
Last month it was reported that Colin Ferrell was at the top of the list to take on the lead role in the remake. Today it's being reported today Ferrell was recently offered the lead role in the film and he's currently in negotiations with the studio to join the project.
Ferrell is no Schwarzenegger, but Ferrell is a solid actor, and I'm sure he'll give the character an interesting new spin.
As previously, Philip K. Dick's story, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale will once again be the basis of this film. The story is about a man with recurring dreams of traveling to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. Something goes terribly wrong with the implant and he believes he is a secret agent fighting to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air. It's not known how Kurt Wimmer's script deals with Dick's favorite topic of reality vs. delusion, with audiences having to make up their own minds if the movie was a dream.
Colin Farrell is finishing of his next film, By Virtue Fall, in January so that might make him the best candidate to take on the lead. Until recently, Farrell has acted in more indie fare. His just wrapped roles in the Fright Night 3D and Horrible Bosses are his first stab at bigger budget fare since Alexander.
What do you all think about Ferrell taking on the lead character in this new Total Recall movie?
