Zombieland Screenwriters will Direct DOC AND HOWIE
Zombieland screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wenick, have officially signed on to direct their first feature film called Doc and Howie, which was formerly called Doc and Howie Whack a Granny.
The story follows the two title characters as they accidentally kill an elderly woman when they neglect to help her carry her groceries up the stairs. In a fortuitous twist, the incident brings them into contact with the woman’s hot granddaughters, and they struggle with the dilemma of whether to tell the women the truth.
Sounds like this could be a fun little dark comedy. Steve Leff wrote the original screenplay, which ended up being one of the “most liked” scripts on last year’s screenwriter Black List.
It's always interesting to see screenwriters move into the directors chair. Just because they can write a good movie doesn't mean they can direct one, but this film doesn't sound like anything too difficult. The pair of writers have also written the comic book adaptation of Deadpool for Fox, and of course they are working on the upcoming Zombieland 2, as well as Earth vs. Moon and Cowboy Ninja Viking. So they're keeping themselves pretty busy.
What do you think of these two taking on this film Doc and Howie?
