Yesterday it was announced that Lindsay Lohan was dropped from Inferno and just like that a replacement has been announced. According to a statement made by director Matthew Wilder to E! News, they have already filled the role:
"We are casting Malin Akerman for the role of Linda Lovelace. We are currently in negotiations and working out the legalities of bringing her on board."
Akerman's casting can now finally get the project back on track, or so Wilder feels. Shooting is planned to begin the first quarter of 2011.
Wilder stated the reason that they had to let Lohan go was because of "the impossibility" of insuring her "and some other issues." Lohan is currently completing a court ordered rehab at a facility in Rancho Mirage, California.
I am surprised that Wilder and the producers stuck beside Lohan as long as they did. There is a certain point that postponing the project was such a major detriment financially that they had to let her go. Her not being able to be insured would have meant millions of dollars lost if she were to get into trouble with the law again.
Akerman is gorgeous and I liked her in Watchmen. I think that she will make a good Linda Lovelace and I am interested to learn more about this project as news becomes available. What are your thoughts about Akerman as Lovelace?
