THE AVENGERS Getting Delayed due to Budget Issues?

Apparently, Marvel is planning on giving their highly anticipated film The Avengers a relatively low budget, which will result in pre-production of the film being delayed by weeks and maybe even months! According to a report from Bleeding Cool:

Marvel are demanding that it all get done on the relative cheap. For something not far off what Sony paid to make their first Spider-Man film back in 2004.

And while some people have walked off, others are planning a longer game. Basically do the work, then when they run out of budget (which they believe they will) trust that Marvel Studios and their investors will pony up the extra necessary cash rather than leave the movie unfinished.

As a result of such staff changes, pre-production has been delayed weeks – possibly months.

This is ridiculous if it's true. The Avengers is shaping up to be one of the biggest blockbuster films of all time. It's doing something that no other movie has done before; it's bringing together a ton of great characters like The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America into one big epic adventure!

Marvel knows a movie like this isn't going to be cheap if they want to do it right! Spider-Man had a budget of $140 million dollars.  There's no way in hell The Avengers can be done properly on that budget that small.

There's no real source behind any of this information, so I'm going to label this as a rumor for now. I think Marvel is smarter than this. At the same time, I know that the Marvel bean counters will do everything they can to save a buck.

I just hope they don't screw up this movie. There's no doubt it's going to make an ass load of money.  Marvel shouldn't worry.

What do you think about this?
