Neal H. Moritz will produce the film with Stephen J. Cannell, who will receive posthumous credit. Hannah Minghella and Jonathan Kadin will oversee production of the film for Columbia Pictures.

Belgrad made the following comment on the announcement:

"Jonah helped create a smart and funny vehicle that is tailor-made for him and Channing. They are a perfect duo for this film and Phil and Chris have a terrific, accessible take on the material. We love how this movie has come together and are very excited to begin production this spring."

21 Jump Street was one of the first big hits for Fox.  It focused on young cops with youthful appearances who work undercover in high schools and colleges. The series made Johnny Depp a household name.

I never really watched the show when it was on Fox.  I do remember the punk inspired hair that Depp had back then.  He was definitely channeling James Dean for his role on the show.  I love Jonah Hill's comic timing and think that Baccall will likely have a great script that is suited for Hill.  I am concerned about Tatum.  I have never seen him in a comedic role.
